On May 19, Xu Dazhe, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, had a discussion with Zou Lei, China Datang Corporation chairman and Party secretary, in Changsha.

Xu Dazhe expressed his gratitude to Datang Group for its long-term support for the development of Hunan. He said that since last year, Hunan has made remarkable achievements in the fight against COVID-19, poverty, and floods. Hunan has made solid progress in resuming work and production to ensure stability on the six fronts and security in the six areas. Its economic and social development has maintained a stable momentum of growth and energy demand is surging.

Currently the province is following the direction guided by President Xi Jinping, with the consensus of building the Three Highlands and fulfilling the Four New Missions, and it is committed to building a modern new Hunan. Implementing the Three Highlands and Four New Missions Strategy is indispensable from reliable energy support. It is necessary to focus on peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality to optimize energy structure, layout, and network.

It is hoped that Datang Group will build on the good cooperative relationship between the two sides and work closely with Hunan to strengthen scientific analysis and increase investment in thermal power generating unit upgrading, clean energy expansion, and energy storage. Xu hoped that the group will contribute more to promoting high-quality development of Hunan’s energy sector.

Zou Lei expressed his gratitude to the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government for their long-term support of Datang Group's development in Hunan. He said that Datang Group will build on the good cooperation foundation between the two sides, earnestly fulfill its responsibilities, increase investment and project layout in Hunan, and carry out all-round cooperation with Hunan in clean and efficient use of coal, new energy project development, and energy infrastructure construction. The company promised to make greater contributions to Hunan's energy supply stability and structure optimization, and take practical actions to help the construction of a modern new Hunan.
