Recently, Zoomlion’s 8-ton tower crane TC8039-25 roofed Lusail Stadium, the main venue where the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be held. This is a new Zoomlion construction milestone in the “Belt and Road” countries.

The Lusail Stadium is the largest professional stadium in terms of scale and seating capacity that a Chinese construction enterprise has performed. It also the world’s largest cable-net roof building with the greatest span and the longest cantilever for a net system . The stadium was featured on Qatar’s new 10-Riyal banknote in December 2020. That is the first time that a China-built infrastructure project has appeared on Qatar currency. 

The stadium is the world’s largest membrane-structure. It has 45,000 square meters of membrane. Most of the steel structure were hoisted into place by Zoomlion tower cranes. Their lifting and steady performance provided sufficient and safe construction. This is a 100,000-ton steel structure with a height of more than 70 meters being built under high temperatures, strong winds, and sandy and dusty weather.

Since March 2018, the cranes have been working. Single machine work times exceeded 15,000 hours with no breakdowns. This was highly praised by the stadium project managers.

Recently, Zoomlion has participated in several key projects in the Belt and Road countries, such as the new airport and the university town phases one and two in Kuwait, and the new capital city project in Egypt.
