Ningxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone

In accordance with the decisions and arrangements made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee to improve the management systems and mechanisms of development zones and promote their high-quality development, the former Ningxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone and the former Ningxiang National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone completed their integration. The newly-restructured Party Working Committee and Management Committee of the Ningxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially inaugurated on April 30, 2025.

The former Ningxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 1998 and upgraded to a national-level development zone in 2010. It has successively won such honors as the China Food Industry Demonstration Zone, National Intellectual Property Pilot Zone, National Green Zone, National Transformation and Upgrading Demonstration Development Zone of Yangtze River Economic Belt, Hunan Food Processing Characteristic Industrial Park and Home Appliances Industrial Park, and Hunan Cosmetics Industrial Park. The zone ranked 62nd among the top 100 national advanced manufacturing industrial parks and zones in 2024.

The integrated Ningxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone covers a built-up area of 37.32 square kilometers and is home to over 1,000 enterprises. Among them, 469 industrial enterprises above designated size, 438 high-tech enterprises, and 25 national-level "little giant" specialized and innovative enterprises have settled down here. There are four local listed enterprises and five enterprises each with an annual output value of over 10 billion CNY. A "three leading, one characteristic, and one emerging" industrial structure has taken shape, featuring advanced energy storage, equipment (construction machinery), and food processing as leading industries, smart home appliances as a characteristic industry, and synthetic biology manufacturing as an emerging industry.

Moving forward, the Ningxiang National Economic and Technological Development Zone will strive to achieve the blueprint outlined in the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" Strategy, prioritizing high-quality development as its central theme and industrial chain construction as its main focus. Efforts will be made to advance projects, strengthen industries, optimize services, and uphold fundamental principles. The zone will accelerate a new round of high-quality development, propelling itself toward joining the national vanguard of county-level economies and making greater contributions to the comprehensive construction of a modernized Changsha!
