Changsha, an inland city, is embracing the world at a fast pace. According to the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Changsha launched 8 international passenger and cargo flights this year. As of November, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport served 282 flights, including 46 international and regional ones.
Three are three chartered flights linking Changsha and North America operated at the airport every week. With these flights, Boston lobsters, oysters, salmons, king crabs, tunas, and other high-quality seafood from overseas continuously “fly” to Changsha.
Customs data shows that, between January and November, Changsha’s imported aquatic and seafood products doubled over last year to 9,844 tons, valued at 460 million CNY, increasing by 6.4 times.
This year, it launched another 5 international passenger flights, connecting Changsha to London, the United Kingdom, Puerto Princesa of the Philippines, Chiang Rai and Rayong of Thailand, and Luang Phrabang of Laos; and 3 international cargo flights, linking Changsha and Dhaka, North America (Chicago/Halifax), and Manila.
In 2019, Changsha plans to open 3 to 4 international and regional cargo flights, from Changsha to Amsterdam (Maastricht), Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Los Angeles or Vancouver. It will also actively promote the opening of the intercontinental passenger flights, such as that between Changsha and Ethiopia.
