The Hunan Airport Management Group announced on May 6 that during the May Day holiday, Hunan’s airports handled 532,000 passenger trips and 4,036 flights during the five-day holiday, an increase of 8.4% and 10% respectively over the same period in 2019.
On May 4, the daily passenger flow in Hunan’s airports reached 120,000 and that in Changsha Airport reached 92,600, both reaching a record high since COVID-19 epidemic began. Changsha Airport handled 405,000 passenger trips and 2,949 flights during the holiday, an increase of 6.7% and 9.7% respectively over the same period in 2019.
During the May Day holiday this year, the domestic passenger flow at Hunan’s airports increased 20.5% over the same period in 2019, and that at Changsha Airport increased 19%. There was a more diversified passenger flow in Changsha Airport than previous years, with a majority of passengers going to the south and the east. The main destinations included Haikou, Xi'an, Beijing, Kunming, Shanghai, Sanya, Xiamen, and Chengdu.
