All-cargo flight I99830, filled with fresh Thai fruits such as mangosteen and durian, departed from Bangkok, Thailand, and landed at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport at 3:58 on April 11, 2021. This was the airport’s official opening of its first all-cargo international route.

Central Airlines operates the three-round-trips-per-week flight. Departure flights are loaded with cross-border e-commerce cargo. Arrivals flights are of tropical fruits. It meets the demand for “Made in China” goods from Bangkok e-commerce. It provides those in northwestern Hunan to have fresh imported tropical fruit. Zhangjiajie Customs is increasing capacity to handle customs clearance procedures for the first batch of imported fruits.

Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport temporarily opened passenger-to-cargo flights in 2020. Volume was small and costs high. It was difficult to give full play to the role of importing fruits, edible aquatic animals, and refrigerated aquatic products at the Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport port. This year, the first all-cargo international airline opened after there was full coordination with operating units and enterprises to ensure “no dead ends” in COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control. These included implementing measures such as checking and releasing goods upon arrival.

Zhangjiajie Airport will further expand routes in the near future, increase all-cargo direct flights from Zhangjiajie to Manila, realize direct import of edible aquatic animals, and increase the categories of imported goods.
