Cassava starch is widely used in the production of rice flour, fodders, medicine capsules, and cardboard boxes, with promising market prospects in China.

"In the past three years, our cassava starch sales in Hunan and surrounding markets have sharply surged. We are expecting another leap in local business in 2025," said a manager of a Hunan-based international trade company. This company is committed to the downstream processing of cassava starch in such fields as food, fireworks foundations, modified starch engineering, and packaging, and has collaborated with industrial partners and research institutions to carry out applied research in these fields.

The Huaihua International Land Port has seen a boom in cassava starch imports in recent years. In 2023, Huaihua imported 1,260 shipping containers of cassava starch, weighing 16,700 tonnes; 70,000 tonnes were imported in 2024, increasing by 317% year on year.

The Huaihua International Land Port has actively integrated resources from all parties and optimized logistics and transportation channels, to enhance the import of cassava starch. The port has closely collaborated with railway authorities, continuously improved the freight train operation mechanism, and enhanced transportation efficiency and stability. Simultaneously, it leverages its platform advantages to strengthen communication and cooperation with domestic and international suppliers and purchasers, expanding supply channels and sales markets.

To further advance the development of the cassava starch distribution center, Huaihua has made sustained efforts in storage, processing, and trade sectors. A batch of modern warehousing facilities have been established or renovated, with advanced warehouse management systems applied to ensure secure and efficient cargo flow. Currently, Huaihua International Land Port operates multiple cassava starch warehouses for storage and transit, which can meet the diverse storage requirements of enterprises.

With the sustained development of the Huaihua International Land Port and continuous growth in cassava starch market demand, the Huaihua authority will further optimize logistics channels and strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries to promote the high-quality development of its cassava starch industry. Further, Huaihua will drive coordinated development of port industries including fruits, rubber, and agricultural products, to form a more comprehensive industrial chain cluster.
