On February 24, the eighth day of the Chinese New Year, a China-Europe freight train (Changsha) cleared customs at the Xingsha Customs Authority, a branch of the Changsha Customs Authority. Loaded with electronics, daily necessities, and engineering machinery parts, the train departed from the Changsha North Station on the same day. During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, the China-Europe freight train service in Changsha maintained regular operations, handling a total of 34 freight trains, 14 for imports and 20 for exports—a 127% increase year on year.
As of February 23, the China-Europe freight train service in Changsha has operated 193 import and export trains this year, marking a year-on-year growth of 101.04%. This includes 128 export trains, up 70.6% year on year, and 66 import ones, surging 220.38% year on year. This year's Spring Festival train crossed the border via the Tongjiang Port. Since Changsha launched its first freight train to the Tongjiang Port in 2023, the cumulative volume of China-Europe freight trains (Changsha) departing through this port has continued to climb. These cumulative operations now account for 63% of all China-Europe freight trains entering and exiting via the Tongjiang Port nationwide, making Changsha the most significant coordinator of southbound cargo at this port.
The Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, provincial and municipal port authorities, customs, and railway agencies have coordinated efficiently. Throughout the Spring Festival period, the relevant departments have provided 24/7 appointment-based customs clearance services to ensure the safe operation of freight trains, guaranteeing seamless and efficient regulatory supervision. To support punctual train departures, they have meticulously allocated transport capacity, optimized operational organization, and delivered robust transportation support. These authorities have jointly established a stable and smooth international logistics chain support system throughout the Spring Festival holiday.
