The 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum opened at the Changsha International Conference Center on June 29 morning.
Themed "Common Development for a Shared Future", the expo will last from June 29 till July 2. The guest countries of honor at the expo are Benin, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Zambia. Shandong and Hubei provinces are present as theme provinces.
Nearly 40 activities are scheduled to be held during the expo, including the opening ceremony and also the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum; nine high-end activities hosted by state ministries, commissions and institutions; seven economic and trade matchmaking meetings; three keynote symposiums; and, 13 region-specific activities. A wide range of fields will be covered, such as green infrastructure, customs quarantine, medicine and public health, agricultural and food products, light and textile industry, industrial parks, women and youth affairs, and vocational education.
The public are allowed to visit the expo on July 1 and 2 with free reservations. The main exhibition hall in the Changsha International Exhibition and Convention Center consists of six themed pavilions and one exhibition area, with a total area of 100,000 square meters. Specialty commodities from Africa such as wine, coffee, and handicrafts, as well as China-made construction machinery, medical instruments, articles of daily use, and agricultural equipment, will be displayed. Sub-exhibitions are set up in the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion and Innovation Park (Hunan Gaoqiao Grand Market).
CAETE is the largest economic and trade cooperation platform under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Nearly 20 achievements will be unveiled during the event, including a report on China-Africa economic and trade relations and the China-Africa trade index.
