The first Huxiang Forum for Craftsmen of the Nation and the 2021 Hunan Craftsmen Awards Ceremony were held in Changsha on April 13, 2021. Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee director, and Chen Gang, All-China Federation of Trade Unions Party Leadership Group secretary, vice chairman, and first secretary at its Secretariat, delivered keynote speeches. Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor, presided over the ceremony.

CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary Wu Lan; All-China Federation of Trade Unions leaders Fang Jianmeng, Gao Fenglin, and Wang Junzhi; and, Hunan provincial leaders Zhang Jianfei, Yao Laiying, Zhou Nong, Chen Fei, and He Anjie,  attended the forum or the ceremony.

The forum was led by the Hunan Federation of Trade Unions and co-sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Hunan Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government. It was conducted in two stages. In the keynote speech session, Gao Fenglin, Chen Xingxing, Wang Shujun, and Zou Bin, four “Craftsmen of the Nation”, and Hunan outstanding craftsmen representatives respectively told their stories of pursuing excellence; in the following on-site interview session, eight “Craftsmen of the Nation” including Wang Jin, Tan Wenbo, and Zhu Hengyin, and responsible comrades from related units, enterprises, and scientific research institutes directly under the provincial government departments shared their ideas. They expressed their opinions and conducted in-depth discussions on the three themes: interpreting the profound connotation of the “craftsmen spirit”; building a platform for the cultivation of the “craftsmen spirit”, and inheriting the time value of the “craftsmen spirit”.

Secretary Xu, Governor Mao, and Deputy Secretary Wu then attended the following awards ceremony and presented awards to the outstanding craftsmen. Ten technical talents including Deng Yuanshan, Fu Ling, and Feng Yu won the title of Hunan Craftsman of the Year, and 20 technical talents including Ma Tao, Ye Chong, and Liu Ming won Huxiang Craftsman of the Year Nomination Award.

Before the awards ceremony, Xu Dazhe and Wu Lan met with Chen Gang and his entourage.
