The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government held the 2018 ministerial-provincial work conference in Changsha on December 27. It called for focusing on President Xi Jinping’s important instructions on Hunan’s work, and aiming at coordinating resources to promote the development of an innovative Hunan. Efforts should be made to deepen MOST-Hunan cooperation in such areas as improving regional innovation system, strengthening technological innovation in key industries, and bringing more sci-tech benefits to the people, so as to jointly create a new innovative development pattern in Hunan. Wang Zhigang, MOST minister, and Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary, attended and delivered speeches. Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor, presided over the meeting.
MOST and Hunan talked on three major issues. MOST would focus on supporting Hunan to improve the regional innovation system to enhance the overall innovation efficiency; reinforcing technological innovation in key industries to support the construction of a modern economic system; and, bringing more sci-tech benefits to the people to assist in targeted poverty alleviation and pollution prevention.
