The 2018 Chinese Youth Equestrian Show Jumping Competition Changsha Station kicked off on December 15, marking the first national equestrian competition held in Hunan. A total of 30 “Little Knights” from all over the country participated in the two-day competition.

This competition is a new youth-series event launched by the Chinese Equestrian Association to popularize equestrian sports. It publicizes equestrian culture in order to attract more young people and bring new talent into the national equestrian cause.

The Changsha competition was held at the Hunan Shishang International School of Equestrian Studies, Hunan’s only equestrian education and training place with international race courses. It included 3 events: 0.50m individual race; 0.30m cross bar individual race; and pole individual race. All had show jumping rules adapted from the International Equestrian Federation. Thirty athletes from 3 age groups: U10 (8-10 years old); U14 (11-14 years old); and, U18 (15-18 years old), participated.

The competition was hosted by the Chinese Equestrian Association, and undertaken by the Hunan Provincial Sports Bureau, and Hunan Shishang International School of Equestrian Studies.
