2024 World Computing Conference Opens in Changsha

The 2024 World Computing Conference (WCC) opens in Changsha today. The conference is themed "Calculating the World to Create a New Era – Calculating the New Quality Productive Forces". The two-day event consists of an opening ceremony and also a keynote seminar, 10 themed activities, a competition, and a themed exhibition.


Hunan has hosted WCC for six consecutive years so far.


Chinese and foreign academicians, experts, and managers from leading enterprises in the computing industry come together to showcase the latest progress, outcomes, and development trends in the computing industry both domestically and internationally from multiple perspectives.


A Changsha Initiative on Green Intelligent Computing was announced at the conference. It displays cutting-edge technological trends and outcomes from think tanks, aiming to accelerate the high-end, intelligent, and green development of the computing industry. 


In recent years, Hunan has given full play to its advantages in such aspects as origins of technologies, the driving forces of central SOEs in the province, and demonstration role of key projects. Hunan has taken the national lead in the green intelligent computing industry. In 2023, Hunan's output value of the green intelligent computing industry hit 715 billion CNY, accounting for about 7.3% of the national total. The provincial total computing power exceeded 6,000 PFlops, among which intelligent computing power reached more than 1,600 PFlops. In respect of the supercomputing field, Hunan has led the country and reached advanced international levels.
