Intangible Cultural Heritage Highlights New Year's Day Celebrations

Duration: January 1 and 2, 2026
Venue: Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Base in Hunan Cultural Center
Activities:
- Intangible Cultural Heritage Bazaar and China-chic New Year Goods Fair: exploring over 30 booths featuring festive foods, traditional clothing, artisan crafts, and unique souvenirs.
- Performances and Tea Party: lion dance welcome ceremony and craft inheritor award ceremony at the music hall at 10:00 on January 1;
- Hands-on workshop: making an appointment to experience Tantou woodblock New Year paintings, flax linen painting, Changsha dough modelling, and Nuo masks; and,
- Treasure Hunt: collecting stamps at 11 designated fun stops to exchange for gifts. 


Duration: December 31, 2025 to January 3, 2026
Venue: Changsha Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall
Activities:
Changsha intangible cultural heritage-themed seal cutting exhibition (December 31, 2025 to April 30, 2026);
Changsha shadow puppetry shows (10:00-11:00/14:00-15:00, on January 1 and 2); and,
Experiencing tie-dye skills, Chinese knot weaving crafts, Hunan-style wooden sailboat making techniques, and Tongguan pyrography (9:00-12:00/13:30-16:30, on January 1) 

Duration: January 1 to 3, 2026
Venue: Hunan Yuhua Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall
Activities:
- "Noble Steed" Garden Party;
- Collecting stamps to exchange for intangible cultural heritage gifts; and,
- Hands-on experience of Nuo masks, bamboo toys, Changsha paper-cutting, intangible cultural heritage Perler beads, seal engraving, Chinese knot weaving, and tie-dye crafts. 

Duration: January 1 to 3, 2026
Venue: Jishou City
Activities:
An intangible cultural heritage-themed garden party will be held at 10:30 and 15:00 from January 1 to 3 at the Dehang Miao Village Farming Cultural Park.
Experiential activities such as bamboo weaving, Miao embroidery, and wax dyeing will be organized between 9:00 and 17:00 from January 1 to 3 at the Aizhai Bridge Visitor Center. 
A parade of the God of Fortune sending blessings will take place between 9:00 and 17:00 from January 1 to 3 at the Aizhai Cliffside Plank Path. 
A Miao drum performance and gift giveaway will welcome guests between 9:00 and 17:00 from January 1 to 3 at the Canyon Starry Sky Campsite.
Preferential prices will be offered for accommodation and catering from January 1 to 3.

Venue: Zhangjiajie Expressway East Exit Visitor Center 
Activities:
"Fairyland Zhangjiajie" New Year's Day Volunteer Service Art Performances will be staged, including folk songs of Tujia, Miao, and Bai ethnic groups; flash mob shows featuring Yang Opera excerptions, Sangzhi folk songs, and Tujia Daliuzi (Baishou dance accompanied by the beating of gongs and drums).
A local handicraft bazaar gathers quality products like brocades and berry tea.
Inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items will present live demonstrations, inviting visitors to experience the charm of Zhangjiajie folk customs.

Venue: Huaihua Museum
Activities:
Themed "Welcome the Year of the Horse," a paper-cutting activity will be held to enable visitors to experience the charm of the intangible cultural heritage item and explore patterns on cultural relics.
Visitor can embark on a fascinating journey by collecting auspicious patterns.
Families can also work with a paper-cutting inheritor to create their own lucky horse artwork.
