The Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province held a press conference on March 13, 2025. It announced that the Hunan Canola Flower Festival 2025 will open on March 17, with the main venue located in Liangxinbao Town, Junshan District, Yueyang City. The four sub venues—Ningjiaping Town of Youxian County, Suoshi Town of Shuangfeng County, Wanjing Town of Ningyuan County, and Baozi Town of Huitong County—will hold opening ceremonies simultaneously.

Gong Xin, a member of the CPC Leadership Group and deputy director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province, introduced that Hunan has taken the lead nationwide in area and yield of canola planting for many years. In recent years, Hunan has made great efforts to expand growing area of canola,  vigorously developing and utilizing multiple functions of canola. It has achieved fruitful results in advancing agricultural modernization and integrated development of leisure agriculture and rural tourism. Hosting the canola flower festival is conducive to promoting the transformation and upgrading of canola industry, assisting integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, and boosting consumption.

The festival will last until the end of this March. Three themed major events will be held in the main venue, including a characteristic agricultural products exhibition and sale fair, an exhibition on Hunan agricultural science and technology, and a series of recreational activities held in canola flower fields. Visitors may experience the unique folk culture, taste the local specialties, watch the agricultural drone flight and sci-tech show, try their hand at making canola oil, enjoy the flower field concert, and take part in the Dongting flower garden party.
