Happy Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival is an event of great significance in China as it marks the conclusion of Chinese New Year festivities. Explore a rich array of activities taking place across Hunan around the festival.


2025 Changsha Spring Festival Lantern Fair
Duration: till February 12
Venue: HB (Changsha) Film Town
Visitors can observe lanterns, watch China-chic performances, taste intangible cultural heritage delicacies, purchase New Year goods, and join in a Spring Festival cultural tourism consumption event that integrates dining, traveling, entertainment, and shopping.

Zhangjiajie Lantern Festival Celebrations

Duration: till February 12
Venue: Yongding District, Zhangjiajie
Art performances on the main stage at the Lantern Show; themed lantern exhibitions; parade and performances; and, week-long cultural activities.

A Parade of Fire Lantern Festival

Duration: from 19:30 on February 11 to 10:00 on February 12
Venues: Nanyue Temple-Nanyue Ancient Town-Nanyueli
A street parade team and an intangible cultural heritage dragon and lion dance team will conduct a China-chic night tour along Nanyue Temple, Nanyue Ancient Town, and Nanyueli. Blessing ceremonies such as igniting the festive flame and releasing wishing lanterns are scheduled to be held.

Chinese New Year Garden Party
Time: 10:00-17:00 on February 12
Venue: Jiangtunwan (Finless Porpoise Bay) Sports Park, Yueyang
A variety of festive events will be held, including large parades, characteristic performances, riddle guessing, intangible cultural heritage-themed experiential activities, and a food fair.

Laosiyan Lantern Fair
Duration: February 7 to 11
Venue: Hongshilin Town, Guzhang County, Xiangxi
Activities: Ongoing basketball games, Yang Opera performance, and lantern shows. A Fire Dragon show will be staged on the evening of February 11, the eve of Lantern Festival.

"Pray for Blessings in the Year of Golden Snake, Enoy a Joyful Hakka New Year"

Duration: January 22 to February 12
Venue: Shennong Valley National Forest Park, Zhuzhou
Activities: People who were born in the Year of the Snake can enjoy free entrance to the park. Colorful activities will be held, including temple fair, digging up bamboo shoots, guessing lantern riddles, immersive experience of intangible cultural heritage, and Hakka campfire party.
