For foreign nationals in Hunan, applying for a social security card that has work permit information integrated into it is a straightforward process consisting of the following two steps.
The first step: get the electronic card.
After entering China, download the "Electronic Social Security Card" (or "eSSCard") app from any major app store (Apple, Tencent, 360, Baidu, Huawei, or Xiaomi). Then open the app and enter:
Your full name (exactly as on your passport)
Your Work Permit Number (from your "Notification Letter")
The second step: apply for the physical card.
Visit a designated Bank of China or China Construction Bank branch with your original passport and electronic social security card to get the physical card.
