A: Overseas personnel who are going to apply for a motor vehicle driving license of the People's Republic of China (PRC) shall apply to the vehicle management office in the place where they live. If you are applying for a motor vehicle driving license of PRC for the first time, please prepare the following materials: (1) a valid proof of identity such as passport; (2) a valid proof of residency in China; (3) take a physical examination in a hospital, obtain a Driver's Physical Condition Certificate issued by the hospital, and record your information in advance at a driving school in the place where you live. Applying for a driving license involves physical examination, registration and training at a driving school, driving examinations of various subjects and other processes. You may consult the details at the enquiry counter of the Driver Management Office of Traffic Police Detachment where your live or you can consult the driving school near your residence to learn about relevant information.
