On June 28, 2022, Changsha Metro Line 6 went into official operation with the total operating miles exceeding 200 kilometers.
Changsha Metro Line 6 is Changsha’s longest metro line which is 48.11 km in length, with 34 stations on the line. The average distance between stations is 1.44 kilometers. It is described as “King of Transfer Ride” because there are 6 transfer stations, which will increase to 13 in total. They will connect the line with other existing five metro lines, maglev line, and inter-city Railway. Besides, it possesses the widest coverage for the line passes through 5 districts and one county in Changsha. East-west Line 6 starts from the Meixi Lake International New Town in the west and ends at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport West Station in the east. It is the first metro line connecting to the airport.
The identification color of the Metro Line 6 is navy blue. Line 6 mainly runs from east to west through Yuelu, Kaifu, Furong, Yuhua Districts and Changsha County, which is the key line set up along the corridor of the main passenger flow. The line covers the east-to-west urban corridor of the passenger flow and strengthens the connection between the sub-center in Yuelu District and the main city center. The line also strengthens the link between the South Xingma District and the main urban district. It gets the hub of the intercity rails in Yuelu District and Huanghua Airport connected and ease the traffic pressure of the whole city.
