The 2024 summer travel rush came to an end on August 31. During the rush period, Changsha Huanghua International Airport achieved new breakthroughs in terms of total passenger throughput, passenger throughput in a single month, and passenger throughput in a single day.

From July 1 to August 31, Changsha Airport saw 41,087 flight takeoffs and landings and its total passenger throughput hit a record high of 6.0715 million, up 9.29% and 18.92% over the summer travel rush in 2023 and 2019 respectively.

The airport's monthly passenger throughput exceeded 3 million for the first time. In August this year, Changsha Airport recorded 3.1079 million passenger trips, with a daily average of 100,300.

The airport's single-day passenger throughput hit a record high of 109,200 on August 21. During the 62-day summer travel rush, there were 24 days with a single-day passenger throughput exceeding 100,000.

As of August 31 this year, Changsha Airport handled 21.1506 million passenger trips and guaranteed 147,372 flight takeoffs and landings, an increase of 17.41% and 10.35% respectively

During the summer travel rush, Changsha Airport operated flights to 109 cities, and the top ten destinations for outbound passengers were Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Haikou, Chongqing, Kunming, Shanghai, Xiamen, Ji'nan, and Qingdao.
