A Boeing all-cargo freighter carrying 20 tonnes of imported fruit landed at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport on August 8, marking the resumption of the Changsha-Bangkok all-cargo air route. This route is estimated to add 5,000 tonnes of cargo throughput for the Changsha airport annually.
The Changsha-Bangkok air cargo route is operated by the K-mile Asia, a Thai-registered express cargo airline. It is served by the Boeing 737-800BCF all-cargo freighter, with a maximum loading capacity of 20 tonnes. Two flights will be operated every week in the initial stage. Later, the flight frequency will be adjusted according to the market demand.
This route mainly transports exported goods with high added value, including cross-border e-commercial commodities and electronic products, as well as fresh imported products such as durians, coconuts, and mangosteens from Thailand. It will facilitate transportation of Hunan's cross-border e-commercial commodities to the Southeast Asian market, and meanwhile bring Southeast Asia's featured fruits and aquatic products to Chinese consumers.
At present, the Changsha Huanghua International Airport steadily operates four air cargo routes to the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. It handles 13 round-trip flights every week, transporting about 34,000 tonnes of goods annually.
