As of July 21, 2024, the Changsha Maglev Express Line, the world's longest maglev line under commercial operation for medium-and-low speed maglev trains, has maintained safe operation for 3,000 days.
From May 6, 2016 to July 21, 2024, the Changsha Maglev Express Line's operation mileage reached over 8.3 million train-trip km, with a cumulative 449,406 train trips made and a total passenger flow of more than 22.5 million, according to data released by Hunan Maglev Transportation Development Co., Ltd. During the period, the fulfillment rate of the operating plan was 99.9%, while the on-schedule rate reached 99.9%.
The 18.55-km Changsha Maglev Express Line links the Changsha South Railway Station with the Changsha Huanghua International Airport. It is China's first maglev line commercial operation demonstration project with independent intellectual property rights. It is also the world's first medium-and-low speed maglev line operated commercially at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour.
As a super hub for air-rail combined transport, the Changsha Maglev Express Line has seen an upgrade in its speed, further shortening the line's one-way travel time and the intervals between trains. Additionally, the maglev line has improved the efficiency of train operation by reasonably adjusting the train operating schedule.
