As of June 30, the Huaihua International Land Port has handled 459 freight train trips to ASEAN countries this year, transporting 22,936 TEUs of goods. This has surpassed the number of last year which was 455 train trips, according to Lei Mingxiong, chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the Huaihua International Land Port Development Co., Ltd.

As a member of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor "13+2" inter-provincial coordination and cooperation mechanism, Huaihua is the only ASEAN-oriented freight train assembly center in Hunan Province. The Huaihua International Land Port has opened four major international logistics passages. It collaborates with Beibu Gulf Port to provide the rail-sea intermodal transport service, and links to the China-Laos, China-Vietnam, and China-Myanmar railways. It undertakes delivery of over 70% of the goods which are transported through the trade corridor to ASEAN countries and the world.

The Huaihua International Land Port has continuously expanded cooperation with the neighboring provinces and regions while promoting collaboration within the province. It has deepened cooperation in improving customs clearance efficiency, regional goods assembly, and reducing freight fare, effectively expanding the coverage of the trade corridor. It has vigorously explored outbound passages, with its international freight transport network covering 97 ports and stations in 40 countries and regions. It has delivered 221 kinds of goods in 16 categories. It has seen a surge of the export of the three major tech-intensive green products, or the "new three"—new energy vehicles (NEVs), lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products. Products with high added value has gradually become the majority of exports, including small-sized excavators, rice polishers, sachets, auto parts, machine parts, and articles of daily use.

It has boosted collaboration with coastal ports. Beibu Gulf Port, Guangzhou Port, Yantian Port, and Yangpu Port have set up inland ports in Huaihua successively. Some international shipping companies, such as the China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, have set up container returning spots in Huaihua, which allows foreign trade enterprises to take delivery or return the containers nearby.

In the first half of this year, the Huaihua International Land Port has operated 188 China-Laos freight train trips, 2.5 times more than the total number of 76 train trips throughout last year. It has transported 780 TEUs of collaboratively exported goods of Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces, including 332 TEUs of NEVs; and, delivered 306 TEUs of suitcases and bags and 3,018 TEUs of cassava starch, with a total weight of nearly 40,000 tonnes which was 2.4 times more than the figure of 16,700 tonnes in 2023.
