Baini Lake National Wetland Park, adjacent to the Yunxi section of the Yangtze River, derives its name from the grayish-white mud at the bottom of the lake. Nestled along the bird ecological corridor on the East Dongting Lake, the wetland park boasts stunning and picturesque scenery. With a shoreline stretching 38.5 kilometers, the park provides an ideal habitat for diverse species to gather and thrive. The park features a wide range of natural scenic resources, offering picturesque views throughout the seasons. As an important stopover site along the bird migration route on the East Dongting Lake, this wetland park is inhabited by numerous migratory birds in late autumn, presenting a vivid portrayal of the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.
The wetland park prioritizes environmental conservation and ecological restoration, featuring appropriately scaled environmental education facilities. The Baini Lake Hairy Crab Festival is scheduled to be held every October, with the aim of enhancing the reputation of local hairy crabs. Leveraging the interconnected waterways of Baini Lake, Chunhu Lake, Changgang Lake, and Yangxi Lake, a wetland cruise corridor has been established, offering wetland sightseeing, science popularization, and lake food tastings.
