Covering a total area of 637.7 hectares, the Huangjinhe National Wetland Park is composed of six types of wetlands in three major categories: riverine wetlands, marsh wetlands, and artificial wetlands. The park boasts rich biodiversity, with 922 species of wild vascular plants across 168 families and 535 genera, as well as 228 species of wild vertebrates from 32 orders and 82 families. Among these, there are six species of wild plants under national first-class protection and 14 species under national first-class protection, such as the East Asian bullfrog (Hoplobatrachus rugulosus), mandarin duck (Aix galericulata), Eurasian kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), and silver pheasant (Lophura nycthemera).
Since it was established as a pilot program in December 2014, the park has strictly followed the principles of "comprehensive protection, scientific restoration, rational utilization, and sustainable development." It has implemented a series of protection and management measures and established various systems. As a result, the park's integrated management capacity has been further enhanced, its ecosystem has become healthier and more stable, and its science popularization and education system has been continuously improved. Remarkable achievements have been made in wetland protection and restoration.
