The Xiangbiwo Forest Park derives its name from its unique shape, resembling an elephant dipping its trunk into the water. The total planning area is about 5,172.3 mu (344.82 ha.) and the forest coverage rate is 85.35%. The park serves as a vital "urban green lung" with its rich vegetation. In October 2018, the People's Government of Hunan Province approved the establishment of the park as a provincial forest park.
The beautiful ecological environment and profound historical heritage have made the park a hit on social media. The park ranked fifth on a list of Changsha's tourist attractions, as compiled by users of Douyin-the Chinese version of TikTok. Situated in the northern vegetation subzone of subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests, the park offers visitors a captivating and immersive experience of diverse biodiversity. In addition, the park is home to cultural landscapes such as Luohan Cave, Nanmu Temple, and Shitang Reservoir Dam, making it a major attraction for tourists.
Surrounded by majestic mountains, the Shitang Reservoir in Xiangbiwo Forest Park is a top choice for outdoor enthusiasts and hikers.
