Shaoyang Museum is a comprehensive history museum integrating such functions as collection, research, display, and education. It has four floors and a total construction area of 15,000 square meters. The exhibition area covers nearly 6,000 square meters and the cultural relics warehouse occupies 640 square meters. The museum is home to a collection of more than 5,000 pieces (sets) of works.

Basic exhibition offered on the first floor displays the history of Shaoyang City in chronological order. About 1,100 pieces of cultural relics are exhibited to showcase the development process of Shaoyang from ancient times to the period of 30 years of reform and opening up.
