Hunan Museum of Geology

The Hunan Museum of Geology was founded in 1958. It is one of the earliest provincial geological museums in China and the largest natural science museum in Hunan Province. It is a fully-funded public welfare institution at the provincial level.

In order to implement the strategy of strengthening the province with culture, the museum was relocated and rebuilt with the approval of the provincial government in 2002. The main structure of the new museum was completed at the end of 2008, and its exhibition areas started construction at the end of 2009. On April 22, 2012, the new museum was officially opened to the public. It covers an area of 71.9 mu (about 4.79 hectares) and a construction area of 20,000 square meters. Its exterior appearance is in the shape of mineral crystals. It displays and researches mineral crystals. It has precious collections, modern facilities, and strong scientific research force.

Make a reservation three days in advance via the official WeChat account and show the reservation QR code before visiting.

How to get there: 

Take Changsha Metro Line 1 and get off at the Provincial Government Station (省政府站)
