Thirty-seven international students from Hunan Normal University recently embarked on a Huxiang cultural tour at the Changsha Library. The students from 11 countries were bursting with curiosity and enthusiasm for Chinese culture.
Guided by the Changsha Library's docents, international students visited several unique reading spaces including the Changsha Humanities Hall, the Literature Room for the Visually Impaired, and the Multicultural Hall. Inside the Multicultural Hall, the students warmly introduced library situations in their hometowns. A student from Russia was amazed by Changsha Library's spacious and bright reading environment, diverse collections and resources, and the advanced smart reading equipment. The students also learned health preservation exercises, identified Chinese herbal medicines, made Chinese herbal sachets, and personally experienced acupuncture and moxibustion at the library. They all marveled at the wonders of traditional Chinese medicine culture.
Wei Haiyan, deputy curator of the Changsha Library, introduced that a "Reading the World" study tour passport issuance activity is ongoing at the library. International students can obtain this passport and use it to visit libraries around the world, learning about the history of various cities.
Finally, at a farming-reading garden, the students followed the library teachers to read the poem "Qin Yuan Chun · Changsha" and the Changsha ballad "Yueliang Baba", fully immersing themselves in the unique charm of Changsha local culture.
