I. University Profile

Central South University of Forestry and Technology（CSUFT）is located in Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city in China, with an elegant environment and convenient transportation. CSUFT was initiated in 1911. It is a university jointly sponsored by the People's Government of Hunan Province and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China, as well as in the list of “China's first-class universities” in Hunan Province. In the 114 years since its initiation, CSUFT has developed into a forestry-featured university with multidisciplinary coverage of nine major disciplines, and has established a complete system of training and awarding of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. There are 9 doctoral programmes, 43 master's programmes and 6 postdoctoral research stations. The discipline of forestry engineering is a world-class cultivation discipline of Hunan Province, and three disciplines, including wood science and technology, forestry and ecology, are national key/cultivation disciplines in China. Seven disciplines of Agricultural Science, Engineering, Environmental Ecology, Materials Science, Plant and Animal Science, Chemistry, and Computer Science have entered the top 1% of ESI global ranking. The university has 10 national teaching and scientific research platforms in China and 69 provincial and ministerial teaching and scientific research platforms. There are 972 senior-title teachers in CSUFT, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 60 other national talents. The construction area of CSUFT's library is 43,000 square meters, with a total physical collection of 2.5299 million volumes (pieces).

IV. Eligibility

1. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens, no criminal record, physically and mentally healthy, excellent grades, strong academic background, scientific research and innovation ability; international students who are now in China do not belong to the “Three-illegals” (illegal entry, illegal residence, illegal employment), and voluntarily abide by the laws of China and the regulations of CSUFT.

2. Chinese citizens apply to enter CSUFT as international students after immigrating to foreign countries, MUST have held a valid foreign passport or a document certifying his/her nationality for 4 years or more, and have lived in a foreign country for more than 2 years in the last four years (up to 30th April, 2025). Actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, based on the entry and exit official stamps.

3. Age Requirements

Master's programme applicants: 18 ~ 32 years old;

Doctoral programme applicants: 20 ~ 40 years old.

4. Applicants for a master's programme must have obtained a bachelor's degree or equivalent; applicants for a doctoral degree must have obtained a master's degree or equivalent.

5. Language Requirements

(1) Applicants for Chinese-medium majors must provide a certificate of Chinese language proficiency obtained after 30th June, 2023 with HSK4 180 scores or above.

(2) For applicants of majors taught in English, their English proficiency must meet one of the following three requirements:

① English as the native or official language;

② Certificate of English language proficiency obtained after 30th June, 2023, such as IELTS 5.5 or above (included) or TOEFL 80 or above (included);

③ Official statement issued by previous school if courses are taught in English.
