1. About University of South China

University of South China (USC), established in 1958, is a comprehensive key provincial university. The university began offering education to international students in 2010 and received high-quality certification for higher education of international students from the Ministry of Education in 2021. Notably, eight disciplines—Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Biochemistry, Materials science, Environmental science and ecology, and Molecular Biology and Genetics—are ranked in the top 1%globally according to the Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

3. About the Application

（1）Basic Requirements

The applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen (with over 4-year citizenship and no less than 2 years residency record in the citizenship countries), aged 18 or above (Born before June 15, 2007), with a valid foreign passport, good health and good conduct, and is willing to abide by the laws and regulations of China and the rules and regulations of USC.

（2）Language Requirements

For medical and other programs taught in Chinese, applicants should achieve no less than 180 for HSK Level 4. Students who want to transfer to programs taught in Chinese should provide a HSK 4 certificate within the specified time for application. For engineering and other majors taught in English, applicants should be English speakers and graduates from senior high schools for English speakers (mother language or official language). Otherwise English proficiency certificates such as IELTS 6 and TOFEL 80are required. For medical programs, applicants should achieve 80% or more of the full marks in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology in the previous stage.

（3）Age Requirements

A bachelor degree applicant should be younger than 25 years old with a high school diploma and an outstanding academic performance; if an applicant already has a high school or college diploma and wants to pursue a bachelor degree in USC, 30 is the cap of the age requirement. A master's degree applicant should be under 35 years old and must have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent recognized by the Chinese government. A doctoral degree applicant should be under 40 years old and must have a master's degree or the equivalent recognized by the Chinese government.

5. Procedures Needed for Application

From the year of 2019, international applicants need to make their applications through the university online application platform. Please visit the platform via https://usc.17gz.org/ or http://apply.usc.edu.cn/ to do the application. Do Not mail hard copies. The formal Admission Notice will be sent to accepted applicants, along with an E-mail through which they can find the link to download the Electronic Visa Application Form (JW202). Accepted applicants should bring their passport, Admission letter, Visa Application Form (JW202), Physical Examination Record Form, etc. to the local Chinese Embassy or Consulate and apply for a student visa (X visa), and register at the university on time.
