I. About HIE

Hunan Institute of Engineering (HIE) is located in Xiangtan, the hometown of a great man: Mao Zedong. The might Xiang River flows eastward, nourishing this ancient land. The profound Huxiang Culture nurtures numerous people with lofty ideals.

HIE now has 18 departments and has authority to award masters degrees of engineering. Adhering to the motto of "work with perseverance and dare to be the first" and the principle of being an "application-oriented university", HIIE is committed to cultivating high-quality applied talents. In 2010, as one of the 12 municipal level under-graduated Colleges, HIIE joined in the first ‘education and training program for outstanding engineers" which was launched by the Ministry of Education. In 2011, HIE became the pilot university for the "education program for masters to serve the special needs of China". In 2013, the program of “Collaborative Innovation Center for Wind Power Units and Electrical Energy Conversion" initiated by HE, was selected into the first "Collaborative Innovation Centers2011" among higher education institutions of Hunan Province. In 2016, HIE became the first university of its kind in Hunan Province which has a major with professional certification in engineering education. In 2017, HIE became a construction unit which will have authority to award master degree. In 2018, HIIE became one of the first units engaged in the new engineering research and practice campaign launched by the Ministry of Education. In the "Double First-class" university construction tide in Hunan Province. HIE was awarded the honor of "high-level application-oriented college", 8 specialists being approved as application- oriented specialties.

II. Application Categories and Majors

1. Non-degree Program (Language Training)

1) Should have a high school diploma, a valid passport strong learning ability and good learning habits

2) The length of this program is one academic year.

2. Undergraduate Program (Chinese Language Instruction)

1)They should have a high school degree or above, and a score of 180 or above in HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) band 4.

2)Length: 5 years for Architecture; 4 years for the other majors.

3)Undergraduate international students and Chinese students will be in the same class. Foreign students who have obtained the required. credits and passed the thesis defense will be awarded the corresponding graduation certificate and degree by HIE

III. Application for admission

1. Eligibility

1) Foreign citizens, aged over 18 years old, no criminal records.

2) Have good moral character; commitment to adhere to Chinese laws and regulations as well as HIE rules, respect China's social morality and customs

3) able to perform successfully in an academic program in a foreign country, with certain Chinese or English communication skills;

4) With the corresponding high school certificate as required.

2. Application Time

The deadline for 2025 fall semester is June 30, 2025.
