A press conference on Hunan's foreign trade in 2024 was recently held in Changsha. It said that Hunan's trade with Africa maintained an average annual growth rate of 14.3% between 2021 and 2024, showing the momentum of rapid development. The figure was 5.3 percentage points higher than the national average during the same period, with the scale of trade steadily topping the central and western parts of China.

The Hunan-Africa trade has now covered almost all countries and regions in Africa, and Africa remains the third largest trading partner of Hunan Province. Hunan has records of import and export to almost every country and region in Africa. The province realized exponential growth in 2024 to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Morocco, Zambia, and other African countries. Especially in September 2024, riding the wave of the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Hunan further expanded the market of African countries. Hunan's imports and exports to Africa in the fourth quarter of 2024 increased by 17.3% year on year and 68.7% sequentially, both much higher than the national growth rates for the same period.
