Hunan's import and export to Africa amounted to 27.06 billion CNY in the first half of this year (H1), taking the lead in central and western parts of China. Among them, exports reached 13.47 billion CNY while imports 13.59 billion CNY, an increase of 100.4%, said the Changsha Customs authority.
General trade accounted for more than 90% of the total, and processing trade grew slightly. Hunan achieved 24.81 billion CNY of general foreign trade with Africa in H1, accounting for 91.7% of the provincial total import and export value to Africa in the same period.
Private enterprises held the major position in trade with Africa. In the first half of the year, private enterprises in Hunan Province imported and exported 22.5 billion CNY to Africa, accounting for 83.1% of the provincial total foreign trade value to Africa. The import and export value of state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises to Africa reached 3.34 billion CNY and 1.22 billion CNY respectively.
Exports to Africa were mainly electromechanical products. Hunan Province exported 7.13 billion CNY of electromechanical products to Africa, accounting for 52.9% of the provincial total export value to Africa. Among them, the exported engineering machinery, high-tech products, automobiles (including chassis), rose by 38.1%, 31.1%, and 28.5% respectively.
