"The teacher here is very professional and the technology is quite advanced!" exclaimed Selim, a professor from South Sudan's Upper Nile University, as he gave a thumbs up in an apiary of the Honghua Beekeeping Specialized Cooperative in Changsha County.
On June 23, Selim and more than 30 other African friends came to Changsha to embark on a study tour of beekeeping technology. Organized by the Hunan Agricultural Science Group, the study tour is part of China's human resources development cooperation programs, a highlight of the country's foreign aid. The teacher Selim praised was Tan Chuangming, president of the cooperative and a local beekeeping industry leader.
"This training serves as a bridge connecting us with the outside world and between our two countries," Selim remarked. He further noted that the trip provided valuable insight into the potential and future direction of the beekeeping industry in Africa. Selim expressed his desire to build upon this foundation and apply the beekeeping experiences he gained in Changsha to innovate in his own country.
