Hunan TV's music competition show Singer 2024 welcomed a special audience on June 21: Christelle Lebrasse, a senior news editor at the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), and 23 professionals from African radio and television circles.

Christelle and her peers came to China for China's foreign-aid training through the "Seminar on Capability Building of Radio and Television Operation and Management for English Speaking African Countries."The seminar was hosted by China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Hunan International Business Vocational College. A total of 24 African media personnel from Eritrea, Lesotho, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Uganda, and Zanzibar participated. During their Hunan trip, some well-known Hunan media professionals were invited to exchange views with the trainees on radio and television operation and management.

The show Singer 2024, participated by famous Chinese and foreign singers, has consistently been the most-watched programme on provincial-level satellite TV stations since it began broadcasting, and has received over 100 billion views for four consecutive weeks on Mango TV.

The African trainees watched the show on the set, enjoying a musical feast presented by both Chinese and foreign singers, observing TV programme production techniques in China.

"This is my first time to watch a Chinese music programme, on the scene! China's TV program production, China's speed, and China's stage are amazing! I cannot wait to share what I saw with my family, friends, and colleagues in Mauritius", Christelle raved.

Abubaker from the Uganda National Media Group was impressed by the show's stage commands, lighting, sound effects, and the positioning and switching of cameras, as well as the professional quality of Chinese producers and photographers. He hoped that Uganda will learn from Hunan TV’s broadcasting mode on smartphones which is convenient for audiences.

Some African trainees are interviewed by journalists from around China.

Tiblet Dejene from Ethiopia's Wazema Radio remarked that the Singer show would be popular in Africa, and even around the world.
