On July 25, Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the 7th China-Africa People's Forum and the 7th China-Africa Young Leaders Forum in Changsha. Li also made a keynote speech.
Shen Xiaoming, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, addressed the opening ceremony. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, and Li Dianxun, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, were in attendance.
Li stated that China and Africa have witnessed ever deepening political mutual trust and fruitful results of cooperation in various fields, thanks to the vision of a China-Africa community with a shared future and China's Africa policy characterized by sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith. Li added that China will also make concerted efforts with the African people and political parties to deepen exchange, build solidarity, pursue growth, promote peace, and advance civilizations, thus creating a favorable environment for both sides to achieve their respective development visions.
Li noted that the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has drawn the blueprint for further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization. He said that China is willing to share with African countries its experience in realizing modernization and further promote China-Africa cooperation. China will work with African countries on the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative to jointly make contributions to human progress.
In his speech, Secretary Shen said that Hunan and Africa enjoy a long-standing friendship. In recent years, national platforms such as the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Pioneering Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation have settled in Hunan in succession. Hunan has been one of China's most active provinces in carrying out trade with Africa. Shen said that Hunan will take the forums as an opportunity to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with African countries under the framework of China-Africa cooperation. He added that Hunan will contribute its strength to consolidate China-Africa friendship, advance China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, deepen China-Africa youth exchanges, and jointly build a China-Africa community with a shared future.
Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe, the speaker of the National Assembly of Burundi, and Mohamed Sabbari, the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco, spoke at the opening ceremony. The China-Africa People's Partnership Plan (2024-2026), together with other achievements, was released at the ceremony. The China-Africa Cultural Exchange Center was unveiled.
Lu Kang, deputy director of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the ceremony. The attendees included Li Mingxiang, deputy director of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee; Cai Lixin, deputy director of the Social Work Department of the CPC Central Committee; Zhou Changkui, vice chairman and head of the council of the China Disabled Person's Association; Yuan Bingzhong, deputy director of the Xinhua News Agancy; Hunan provincial leaders Wu Guiying, Zhang Yingchun, Qin Guowen, and Wu Lan; and, Joyce Banda, former president of Malawi.
The forums were hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee. The two events drew more than 200 attendees from more than 50 African countries, including politicians, political party members, youth leaders, and representatives of non-governmental organizations, and think tanks. African officials spoke highly of the outcome of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and the great achievements made and valuable experience accumulated by Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core in the new era. The African officials added that political parties and civil organizations of African countries are willing to strengthen cooperation and share development visions with China to help build a China-Africa community with a shared future.
During the events, Li Hongzhong met with African officials including Gelase Daniel Ndabirabe.
