On January 25, 1,500 kilograms of hybrid rice seeds produced by the Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd. were delivered to Gambia in Africa. Prior to delivery, the seeds went through inspection and quarantine procedures at the Xingsha Customs, which is subordinate to the Changsha Customs. These were the first exported rice seeds from Hunan Province in 2024, and also Hunan's first export of hybrid rice seeds to Gambia.

At present, the rice output of Gambia is about 4.5 tons per hectare, while the yield of Chinese hybrid rice planted there can reach 11.5 tons per hectare. The exported seeds this time will be planted in Gambia in a demonstration manner, to promote Gambian rice planting technology development and help Gambia achieve food self-sufficiency as soon as possible.

Hunan, as a major exporter of Chinese hybrid rice seeds, holds a prominent position nationwide in exporting Chinese hybrid rice seeds. Hunan has exported hybrid rice seeds to more than 30 countries, including the Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Madagascar, Nigeria, and East Timor. In 2023, Hunan exported 5,999 tons of hybrid rice seeds with an export value of 220 million yuan, respectively increasing by 29.3 percent and 37.2 percent year on year.
