Recently, the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Park, located in Gaoqiao Grand Market in Yuhua District, has been receiving daily shipments in anticipation of the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. In 2022, the park's trade volume with African countries reached 3.27 billion yuan, a remarkable 325% increase from the previous year.
The demonstration park serves as the headquarters and incubation center for Chinese and African economic and trade enterprises. To date, it has attracted more than 1,000 economic and trade enterprises from China and Africa to establish a presence in the park.
At the permanent exhibition hall on the third floor of the demonstration park, the national pavilions of the eight guest countries of honor participating in this year's expo are prominently displayed. The export products exhibition area features specialized showrooms for animation, electronic products, new energy, and clothing, as well as commodity pavilions of cities and prefecture in Hunan Province.
"In the past, most African enterprises came to exhibit their products, but now they are here to establish business relations," said Jiang Shoufang, executive deputy general manager of the Gaoqiao Grand Market. In previous years, the permanent exhibition hall was operated by the Gaoqiao Grand Market, with a focus on product displays and business matchmaking. However, this year, the permanent exhibition hall has been entrusted to African chambers of commerce and business liaison offices, marking a breakthrough change for African countries from showcasing products to conducting business.
Many visitors to the permanent exhibition hall have shown a great interest in African chili pepper brands. "After the second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, the 'Fire Chief' chili sauce from Rwanda gained popularity in Hunan," Jiang Shoufang introduced. The "Fire Chief" chili sauce has entered supermarkets in Hunan and has become a star product.
