Yuelu Academy, one of the four greatest academies in ancient China, is situated at the foot of Yuelu Mountain. Yuelu Academy was established more than 1,000 years ago. It was originally operated by monks in its earlier period. In 976 AD, Zhu Dong, a prefect of Tanzhou (the ancient name of Changsha), assumed administrative control and handed it over to Confucian scholars. For more than one thousand years, Yuelu Academy has been a revered institution for Confucian education and a center of culture and literature.

Full-price ticket: 40 yuan/person
Half-price ticket: 20 yuan/person

How to visit:
Individual tourists are required to make a reservation via its official WeChat account “Yuelu Academy [岳麓书院]” three days in advance.

Group tourists are required to make a reservation online via the official website of Yuelu Academy.
