On the afternoon of March 8, the Hunan delegation attending the fifth session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) held a panel meeting. It deliberated the work report of the NPC Standing Committee, the work report of the Supreme People's Court, and the work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate. March 8th marked the International Women's Day. Before the group discussion, Zhang Qingwei, on behalf of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), extended holiday greetings to all the female national legislators, political advisors, and staff members, and women from all ethnic groups and all walks of life in Hunan Province.

He noted that the work report of the NPC Standing Committee reflected the organic unity of the Party exercising leadership, the people running their country, and governance being based in law. It also represented the firm confidence in system, tenacious willing to fight, strong mission and responsibility, and the principle of putting people first. It is a good report that holds high the banner, demonstrates the rule of law, promotes democracy, and seeks truth and pragmatism.

He remarked that the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate’s work reports have presented prominent highlights and clear task arrangement. We should thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping's important thoughts on upholding and developing the system of people’s congresses and on the rule of law. He called for deeply understanding the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and of defining the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He asked to uphold Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership in terms of thinking, political orientation, and actions. We will strive to fulfill various tasks of this year in accordance with the spirits of the “Two Sessions” and the requirements of the work reports of the NPC Standing Committee, the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.
