In recent days, Hunan-based CPPCC members Li Yuncai and Xu Ziqiang have held video calls with netizens from France, Pakistan, Kenya, and other countries via the GLOBALink column produced by Xinhua Global Service. Li and Xu answered questions raised by the netizens about their most concerns during this year’s “two sessions”. This helped promote China’s experiences to the international community and promote Hunan Province to the rest of the world.  

Melody from France, the wife of a Hunan-born man, asked, “How will China’s countryside develop in the future? What exactly is common prosperity? ” CPPCC member Li Yuncai, vice chairperson of the Hunan Provincial Committee of Jiusan Society and former inspector of the Hunan Province Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, briefed her on China’s rural revitalization strategy and the internal connection between rural revitalization and common prosperity. Melody said, “The beautiful scenery of Hunan Province gives me a tranquility of mind. And how will Hunan protect ecological environment in countryside in the next step?” Li replied that Hunan will make more efforts to protect ecological environment and strengthen pollution treatment.

CPPCC member Xu Ziqiang, director of the Emergency Department of the Chenzhou No.1 People’s Hospital, talked via video link with a Pakistani postgraduate student of the Central South University who was enrolled in 2020 and majors in internal medicine . The student asked, “How will the ‘Healthy China’ initiative be implemented? How to take targeted anti-epidemic measures?” Xu gave a detailed answer from the perspective of grassroots medical care. Xu continued that efforts will be made to strengthen the ranks of general practitioners , gradually improve facilities, equipment, and essential medicine allocation in grassroots medical institutions, support both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, carry out a tiered diagnosis and treatment system, build medical consortiums, and implement dynamic zero-case policy. The student was very satisfied with Xu’s explanation.

In response to questions raised by a Kenyan netizen, Xu expressed that China will continue to take regular epidemic prevention and control measures, stick to the strategy of preventing imported infections and domestic flare-ups, roll out targeted and scientific measures, and implement dynamic zero-case policy. He added that China will also make adjustments based on actual conditions, employ more flexible and targeted anti-epidemic methods, make epidemiological investigation by using big data and information technology, and carry out dynamic management.
