The Publicity Department and the Civilization Construction Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and other related departments recently released four lists of 100 national models of "learn from Lei Feng" volunteer service for 2022. The four lists are: 100 model volunteers; 100 model volunteer organizations; 100 model volunteer service projects; and, 100 model volunteer service communities.

Hunan's "Green Guardians" ecological environment protection volunteer service team made the list of 100 model volunteer organizations. 

The "Green Guardians" team was founded in 2013. Over the past decade, it has recruited about 500 members and set up 42 service groups. These volunteer service groups have been working hard at the frontline of eco-environment protection at Hunan's rivers, lakes, and mountains, providing volunteer services for more than 149,000 hours. A "Green Guardians Working around Hunan" brand of eco-environment volunteer service has been established with nationwide influence.

The "Green Guardians" team launched a series of activities to protect the Dongting Lake in 2022, which was recognized by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment as an annual model of public participation.
