From April 8, the Two-Oriented Society Office of Hunan Province invited the renowned domestic experts in ecology, environmental protection, transportation and other fields to examine the Strategic Plan on the Spatial Development of the “Green Core”in Chang-Zhu-Tan City Cluster which has collected various public opinions. Seven strategic plans from seven organizations simultaneously oriented the “green core” of the CZT city cluster as a “heaven of tourism”.

The experts examined the seven plans concerning the planning of the core green area.The plan that got the highest score suggests that the forest parks at all levels should be set up in the green core, the tourism service-oriented villages and towns should be developed; earth fetching and sand digging along the Xiangjiang River and Liuyang River should be forbidden; discharge of untreated sewage should be prohibited,; and the multi-mechanisms of ecological compensation should be established.

Experts all agreed that as a fundamental prerequisite for the construction of the core green area, the ecological construction should be given great priority. They held the opinion that the core green area should be oriented as the ecological reserve and intercity green shelters for Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, which will provide ecological services for the three cities and prevent them from linking with one another in disorder. The core green area will focus on the ecological construction but not urbanization.

In the next phase, the Two-Oriented Society Office of Hunan Province will adopt the feasible ideas of all kinds of plans and form the Overall Planning on the “Green Core” in Chang-Zhu-Tan City Cluster of great instruction and operability.
