The project of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan (CZT) intercity railway to run underneath Sanxiang Nanhu Market would officially began its excavation of shield depth pit after completing retaining structure on September 6. According to Yang Wei, chief engineer of Hunan Intercity Railway Co., Ltd, the project is expected to start shield tunnel excavation in November this year.

In accordance with the original design of viaduct, the railway needs to cross over the Sanxiang Nanhu Market and Yuejin Lake of Hunan Martyrs Park. The present design of tunnel avoids housing demolition for several kilometers in length.
