Two Tracks of Changsha Metro Line No. 1 Cross Liuyang River

Since the west track of Changsha Metro Line No. 1 crossed the Liuyang River from north to south on June 7, its east track succeeded in crossing the river on June 14, completing river crossing for both tracks within a week. According to Zhan Xiangdong, chief engineer of Changsha Metro Line No. 1 Project of the China Railways No.5 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., it is estimated that both west and east tracks will complete their construction to Beichen Delta Station on July 20 and August 10 respectively if shield machines work at the current speed of excavating ten meters per day.


The first phase of Changsha Metro Line No. 1 has 20 stations and 19 tunnels, including one ground station, one semi-underground station and 18 underground stations. At present two-line shield tunnels in eight sections have been completed including Changsha North Coach Station to Kaifu District Station, Houjiatang Station to Nanhu Road Station, Tujiachong Station to Railway Institute of Central South University Station, Railway Institute of Central South University Station to Youyi Road Station, Youyi Road Station to Hunan Provincial Government Station, Hunan Provincial Government Station to Guihua Ping Station, Guihua Ping Station to Datuo Station, and Datuo Station to Zhongxin Square Station. The construction of sections of Houjiatang Station to Nanmenkou Station, and Kaifu District Station to Beichen Delta Station will be completed soon.
