A solo exhibition of French artist Laurent Montaron opened at the Meilun Art Museum, Changsha on June 8. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until July 13.

As a key project of the "Festival Croisements," the exhibition serves as a platform for cultural exchanges between China and France, promoting mutual learning and integration between Chinese and French arts.

The exhibition features Laurent Montaron's photographic masterpieces, related objects, and creative sound art installations. Through the distinctive lens of "image archaeology," the exhibition delves into the dual nature of storytelling, reflecting the close relationship between contemporary images and narratives.

Laurent Montaron, born in 1972, lives and works in Saulchery and Paris, France. He is an interdisciplinary artist whose creations span various media, including film, photography, installation, sound, and sculpture.

Laurent Montaron's works explore systems of self-awareness from the perspective of the history of philosophy, examining how shared understandings and experiences of the world are constructed. He has participated in the 55th Venice Biennale and the 19th Biennale of Sydney, and has held solo exhibitions in Lyon, Basel, Toronto, Paris, and other cities. His solo exhibition, titled "To Tell a Story," was presented during the Rencontres d'Arles Photography Festival in France last year.
