The Zuo Hanzhong New Year Painting Collection and Creation Exhibition has recently opened at the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area City Gallery. The exhibition showcases 99 New Year paintings, both traditional and contemporary, and New Year painting-themed experimental artworks collected and created by Chinese folk art researcher and artist Zuo Hanzhong. It adds vibrant cultural significance to the Spring Festival holiday.

The exhibition highlights New Year culture and woodblock New Year paintings, an intangible cultural heritage item. It is divided into four chapters, namely, the origin and development of New Year paintings, the prosperity of New Year paintings, the revitalization of New Year paintings, and New Year painting-styled experimental works. The historical context, characteristics, regional representatives and innovative products of New Year paintings are summarized and displayed in an all-round and multi-dimensional manner.

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until April 7, 2025.
