Spring Festival Celebrations Across Hunan (Till Feb. 4)

The Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, is the most important festival in China – a time for family reunions, traditions, and preparing for the year ahead. A variety of activities are scheduled to be held across Hunan to celebrate the new year.

Duration: January 31
Venue: Qianzhou Ancient Town, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture
Activities: Qianzhou Spring Fair is a large-scale traditional celebration showcasing ethnic characteristics. It features colorful activities and exhibits nearly 30 intangible cultural heritage items. 

Duration: January 27 to February 4
Venue: Yanling County, Zhuzhou
Activities: The 4th Plum Blossom Festival in Emperor Yan's Mausoleum Scenic Area; "Lighting up '福' lamps to pray for blessings for the New Year"; and, "entering the hall of Emperor Yan's Mausoleum via the '福' gate to pray for blessings".

Duration: January 23 to February 4
Venue: Anjiang Farming Culture Tourist Area, Huahua
Activities: A Carnival of Delicacies and New Year Goods will be launched, making the area an ideal place for Spring Festival shopping.

Duration: January 29 to February 4
Venue: Gaomiao Ruins Museum, Huaihua
Activities: Interactive events and intangible cultural heritage experiences; a dazzling display of molten iron fireworks; a parade in scenic spots with NPC role play and wonderful theater performances.
