The 2023 World Computing Conference (WCC) will be hosted in Changsha on September 15 and 16, according to a press conference held in Beijing on August 3. Themed "Calculating the World to Create a New Era – New Changes in the Computing Industry", the conference will consist of the opening ceremony & main forum, 13 special events, as well as event and theme exhibitions.

The 2023 WCC will highlight professional exchanges, high-end matchmaking, and win-win sharing. It will unite the forces of governments, enterprises, associations, colleges, and universities to work together to drive the high-quality development of the computing industry.

A person in charge of the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hunan Province said preparations for the conference have proceeded smoothly. More than 100 important guests such as academicians, experts, and well-known entrepreneurs at home and abroad have confirmed their participation. A number of the latest intellectual achievements such as heterogeneous computing and brain-inspired computing, and the annual "Top 10 black technologies" will be released during the session. The virtual host named "Xiaoyang" will be introduced, using holography, supercomputing, artificial intelligence, 5G, cloud livestreaming, and other technologies to present the grandeur of the conference in the whole process through all the media.

Heads of the Changsha Municipal People's Government, Changsha Information Industrial Park, Malanshan (Changsha) Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, and Jinxia Economic Development Zone introduced the development status, scenario needs, investment prospects, and supporting policies of Changsha's advanced computing, and audio and video industries.

Hunan is a magnet for the development of China's autonomic computing industry. In last November, Changsha's autonomic secure computing system industrial cluster was awarded the national advanced manufacturing cluster. Changsha has also become the only city nationwide that can realize independent design and production of computer basic hardware and software such as operating systems, core chips, and terminals. In 2022, Hunan's computing industry exceeded 250 billion yuan, driving the digital economy to surpass 1.5 trillion yuan. The general-purpose chips such as CPU and GPU and the operating system KylinOS accounted for the largest share of its kind in domestic market.
